What this quiz measures

Most AI readiness assessments ask about strategy and "digital transformation." This one asks about the things that actually predict whether AI helps a small business: whether the same work repeats, whether anyone could describe it, whether your information is somewhere a tool can read it, and whether a human can review the output before it ships.

A low score is not a failure — it's a to-do list. Every fix it suggests (documenting one workflow, organizing your files, picking one number to track) makes your business better even if you never adopt AI. For the longer version of this thinking, read the AI readiness checklist or the full AI for small business guide.

FAQ

How is the AI readiness score calculated?

The quiz scores ten dimensions that predict whether AI will actually help a small business: how repeatable your work is, how much time it costs, whether the work is describable, how accessible your data is, review capacity, current AI experience, team attitude, budget, measurability, and risk profile. Each answer carries points; the total is your score out of 100.

Is this AI readiness quiz really free?

Yes. The quiz, your score, and the recommendations are free and shown instantly — no email required to see your result. Leaving your email is optional and gets you the full written breakdown plus early access to the complete diagnostic.

What does my score mean?

Under 40 means foundations first: organize your information and document one workflow before buying tools. 40 to 69 means a couple of narrow AI quick wins would likely pay off. 70 or above means you are ready to pilot an off-the-shelf tool on one workflow this week.

How is this different from the full DoWeNeedAI diagnostic?

This quiz is the quick version: a score and your weakest areas. The full diagnostic (launching soon) goes further — ranked quick wins for your specific industry, tool recommendations with ready-to-use prompts, and a rough ROI estimate for your situation.

Do I need any technical knowledge to take the quiz?

No. Every question is about how your business runs day to day — how often tasks repeat, where your information lives, and who could review output. There are no technical questions.
